Natalie Briney Artist

'Erato' the Muse of Lyric Poetry

2019

Painted for my 'Muses' Solo Exhibition at Stala Gallery in 2019.

Erato meaning the “lovely” or “beloved," was the Muse of lyric poetry, especially love and erotic poetry. She is usually depicted with a wreath of myrtle and roses and holding a kithara (lyre), or a golden arrow.

Acrylic on Canvas

Framed in a thin gold frame (see in situ photo number 2)

92 cm (W) x 122 cm (H) x 4cm (D)

'Erato' has a base layer of torn music sheet paper glued onto the canvas. I then build up layers of shading with pencil for the delicate facial features, pointillism with acrylic paint for her hair, swan, wings  and the background which gives each piece texture and depth.

PLEASE NOTE -  any in situ images of this artwork are to offer decor, installation and framing examples only and are not to exact scale, so please do check the dimensions before purchasing.

This original painting will NEVER be reproduced in any other format (eg print or NFT), so you can enjoy the benefits of knowing that this is a one-of-a-kind, made especially for your home.

This piece is created on a 40mm frame-wrapped canvas, sealed with fixative and a triple gloss coat, gallery-finished edges, ready to hang.
